Tudors 3 premieres in New Zealand

An intriguing article by the New Zealand Herald was recently released.

Jonny says:
"I look like a pretty intense person," reasons the actor. "I've got big eyes and so they seem more intense than they really are. And for some people it's, you know, almost harrowing. But I try my best to be as convivial as possible."

Jonny's favorite Tudors scenes?

In this article from the Associated Press, Jonny talks about the scene that stood out to him the most in Season 3 and what he thinks will come in Season 4.

Meyers has the intense, pouty-lipped look that makes him a natural for bedroom scenes. But the episode he singles out involves a grief-stricken Henry and the court "fool," whom Meyers describes as the only man in England who can speak truth to power.

He's played by David Bradley, "a wonderful actor," Meyers said. The episode, the season's fifth, debuts May 3.

"We get plastered drunk .... and I've never done that before, never had to act drunk. It's quite difficult to get it right," he said.

Tudors Season 4!!!

It was announced today that The Tudors has been confirmed for a fourth and final season! Filming is set to begin in Ireland this June!

I'm seriously considering traveling there this summer to try to see some of it. Anyone know how close you can get to the set or if the actors meet with fans after filming?

Possibly my favorite new interview

JRM is interviewed by Time Out New York. Find out why he responds:

"It depends on which department the girl works in. It'd have to be with somebody who works in Wal-Mart."

More interviews

Jonny talks Tudors with SheKnows.com, saying about Henry's relationship with Jane Seymour:

"He felt very comfortable with Jane Seymour. After Anne Boleyn, it was like, 'Whew. I can use a break.' Jane Seymour was the break. She was the ray of light. She was the ice in your soft drink."

We get some insight from an article with the NY Daily News into how Jonny handles the intense shooting schedule of the Tudors, and what he was reading on his recent vacation. He also reveals that he writes poetry and may consider publishing it when he's "a lot older."

Tudors buzz

Here are two new articles about the upcoming Tudors season:

First, from The Futon Critic, an interview with Michael Hirst. Among other things, he talks about Jonny's development as an actor in the series:
"...I think this is his series. This is when Johnny is incredibly powerful. Even if you look at the posters [over the three seasons] you can see that he's changed from a boy to a man. There's a wonderful scene when he goes into the Tower of London to talk to the leader of the Pilgrimage and he looks like the Godfather. Now you're beginning to see how dangerous he is. The future wives have got to be a little careful."

Also, from the Philadelphia Daily News, Jonny answers questions about the 3 new wives this season and says that "every day's a school day."

Jonny's interview on the 3rd season of the Tudors

An article seen in various news sources features Jonny's thoughts on season 3 of the Tudors, his acting career in general, traveling, and relationships. You can see his passion for work and how dedicated he is to his art.

“Everything I’ve done up till now has been an apprenticeship. I haven’t even started to do my real work yet. I haven’t really hit the stride yet.”

He’s always compelled to exceed himself, he confesses. “I think it’s secretly demanded of you by whoever gave you the gift. Also people demand improvement because they’re paying money to sit down and watch you, so you’d better get better.”

*sigh* I love his interviews. Another brilliant one.
